I have successfully managed to implement a hika shop pesapal plugin and the demo transactions are working, however I am having a problem trying to get the IPN working after a client makes a purchase.
I've primary worked on WordPress but the process is generally the same, on the url that you designate as IPN url, catch the $_GET array you'll find tracking id and merchant ref with which you are to use query the status. Check the link... developer.pesapal.com/how-to-integrate/ipn#
